Hi, welcome to week three of Swirling the Truth, Wine Debunked with Jamie here at Cooper's Hawk Vineyard.
Today we're going to be talking about wine temperature. Now I will say that it is a matter of taste and so if you're somebody who really likes your red wine cold then drink your red wine cold. But today I'm going to talk about the recommendation.
Now most people recommend that you drink red wine at room temperature but that standard really came from castles in Europe back in the day where the room temperature was 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. Today's homes are somewhere between 20 and 24. So if you don't have a wine fridge to keep your wine at that temperature, we recommend putting it in your fridge for 20 minutes before serving. That'll bring the temperature down and it will make the flavor profile stand out more, whereas a warm wine, the alcohol stands out. Test it out at home, try a room temperature wine and then throw it in the fridge for 20 minutes and compare the two and see if you can tell the difference.
Okay, see you next week.
